Jeremiah the Innocent

Jeremiah the Innocent

"Jeremiah the Innocent" is a creation of artist and musician Daniel Johnston. Daniel's work is featured on apparel and hand-screened art prints, as part of the Jeremiah the Innocent line. The large Jeremiah the Innocent mural featured in the photographs above is located at 21st & Guadalupe Streets, one block away from Storyville Austin.

Daniel Johnston spent the last 20 or so years telling tales of unrequited love, cosmic mishaps and existential torment to an audience of international followers. Daniel Johnston has been hailed as an American original in the style of bluesman Robert Johnson and country legend Hank Williams. Daniel gained his widest public exposure to date when, at the 1992 MTV Music Awards, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain wore a Daniel Johnston t-shirt on stage. Cobain frequently touted Johnston in interviews.
