A beignet (pronounced "beign-yay") is a pastry made from deep-fried dough and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Beignets are often found in, and typically associated with, the city of New Orleans, in places like Café Du Monde in the French Quarter.

If you ever go to Café Du Monde, you should get an order of beignets with extra powdered sugar, pretend to have to sneeze and then blow the powdered sugar all over your little brother or sister. They'll hate it, but you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself. And when they grow up, they'll pass the tradition along to their kids.

"Beign-Yay" is a Storyville Original, designed by LSU alumna Elizabeth Harvey and William & Mary student Bailey Thomson and Texas State student Sara Ruffin.

The t-shirt is modeled by LSU students Philip Piediscalzo, Monique Harris, Charlotte Cox, Casey Gioia and Max Zoghbi. King cake is a traditional French pastry cake that is served during carnival season. A small plastic baby, representing the Baby Jesus, is hidden in every king cake. Whoever gets the piece with the baby in it has to buy the next king cake. And so the jubilation continues.
