<![CDATA[BTR (Mississippi River Bridge)]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/btr-mississippi-river-bridge.html

"BTR" is short for "Baton Rouge", the Capital City of the Great State of Louisiana. One of the key Baton Rouge landmarks is the long bridge that connects Baton Rouge (and East Baton Rouge Parish) to Port Allen (and West Baton Rouge Parish via Interstate 10).

The bridge is officially named the Horace Wilkinson Bridge and commonly referred to as the "New Bridge" by locals since the bridge was only built in 1968. The bridge is 4,550 feet long, 80 feet wide and 1,235 feet at its longest span. This Mississippi River Bridge is truly a marvel of modern architecture and a proud Louisiana landmark.

<![CDATA[Beign-Yay Forest Green Tee]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/beign-yay.html

A beignet (pronounced "beign-yay") is a pastry made from deep-fried dough and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Beignets are often found in, and typically associated with, the city of New Orleans, in places like Café Du Monde in the French Quarter.

If you ever go to Café Du Monde, you should get an order of beignets with extra powdered sugar, pretend to have to sneeze and then blow the powdered sugar all over your little brother or sister. They'll hate it, but you'll thoroughly enjoy yourself. And when they grow up, they'll pass the tradition along to their kids.

"Beign-Yay" is a Storyville Original, designed by LSU alumna Elizabeth Harvey and William & Mary student Bailey Thomson and Texas State student Sara Ruffin.

The t-shirt is modeled by LSU students Philip Piediscalzo, Monique Harris, Charlotte Cox, Casey Gioia and Max Zoghbi. The photos of Charlotte were taken by Jeff Roedel and the photos of Max and Casey were taken by Josh Harvey. There's also a couple photos of Jonathan Pretus of Cowboy Mouth wearing the "Beign-Yay" tee while performing at the 2009 Storyville Fashion Show in Baton Rouge. These photos were taken by Kim Foster of LSU's The Daily Reveille. The photo of Monique modeling the "Beign-Yay"dress during the 2009 Fashion in the Park Fashion Show in New Orleans was taken by Lawles Bourque.

The original Harvey kids grew up in Monroe, Louisiana. Right across the Ouachita River from Monroe lies West Monroe, a city culturally and politically distinct from its neighbor to the east. Anyone from Monroe knows that an intense rivalry exists between the so-called "Twin Cities." Since we grew up in Monroe, we decided to stoke the fire a bit and create a shirt for all of our friends in Monroe or with Monroe roots. And as Monroe native and St. Frederick graduate Hillary Norris often says, "everyone can relate everything back to Monroe."

The shirt is all in fun, and we Harveys still have lots of love for West Monroe. West Monroe is home to Mojo Ware, one the nation's best and most unique apparel designers. West Monroe is the city where the original Harvey kids went to elementary school (St. Paschal in the house!). And we also many a happy summer afternoon exploring the trails of Kiroli Park.

"Monroe" is printed on a heather lake blue 50% cotton, 50% polyester American Apparel tee shirt with orange and yellow inks. "Monroe" was created by Josh Harvey and is modeled by Louisiana State University students Paul Hewitt, James Knobloch and Nicole Staudenmaier. There is also a photo of Paul modeling the t-shirt during the 2009 Storyville Fashion Show in Baton Rouge (Paul is an actual Monroe native). This photo was taken by Liz Condo of The Advocate. Last but not least, there is a photo of Southern University of New Orleans student Shaun Grant modeling "Monroe" during the 2009 Fashion in the Park fashion show in New Orleans. The word Tchoupitoulas is derived from a now extinct Native American dialect. Interestingly enough, Indians also had trouble spelling it.

Tchoupitoulas Street is also the street that runs closest to the Mississippi River in New Orleans. It starts on Canal Street and runs uptown, through the Central Business District and all the way to Audubon Park.

<![CDATA[Brad Pitt for Mayor - Navy Tee]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/brad-pitt-for-mayor.html

"Brad Pitt for Mayor" is printed by hand on a navy blue 100% cotton, made in the USA, sweatshop-free American Apparel t-shirt with white ink. "Brad Pitt for Mayor" is a grassroots effort whose mission is to get Brad Pitt elected Mayor of New Orleans. The effort is led by Dr. Thomas M. Bayer of Tulane University. Make sure to become a fan of Brad Pitt for Mayor on Facebook (go here). The "Brad Pitt for Mayor" logo was created by Elizabeth Harvey of Storyville. This tee shirt is modeled by Meghan Montgomery and Jonathan House. Go here to see more Storyville Originals.

**13 Reasons why Brad Pitt should be the next Mayor of New Orleans**

by Dr. Thomas Bayer

New Orleans will elect a new mayor on April 22, 2010, and the Brad Pitt for Mayor Campaign Steering Committee is asking you to vote for Brad Pitt. After extensive polling, focus group discussions and soul searching, the steering committee, headed by Dr. Thomas M. Bayer of Tulane University, decided upon thirteen reasons why the Crescent City would be best served with Brad Pitt as Mayor.

Reason #1 - He's Qualified

Rather than having to make vague and unpersuasive connections between clearly unrelated qualifications such as, say, franchise executive and governing abilities, the qualifications of our candidate are plainly obvious: as the worldwide audience of Homer’s Troy can attest, Mr. Brad Pitt clearly has the stomach for the job, not to mention the shoulders to carry the burden of governance.

Reason #2 - NOLA ♥'s Brad Pitt

By bestowing the great office of Mayor of our city upon Mr. Pitt, we, the citizens, are afforded the opportunity to say thanks for the many wonderful things this gentleman has already done for us. What better way to show our heart-felt appreciation than to present to him the mayoral office, the patronage trough, the cornucopia of our great city, that which we hold so dear and is ours to bequeath?

Reason #3 - Lagniappe

If we elect Brad Pitt mayor, Angelina Jolie would be the First Lady of New Orleans.

Reason #4 - Technology and Gastronomy

Instead of technology executives vying for malfunctioning anti-crime camera installation contracts and lap dances, movie moguls from everywhere will lobby the mayor to get a table on Galatoire’s ground floor for the Friday before Mardi Gras all-afternoon lunch.

Reason #5 - Publicity

Publicity and photo opportunities will chase our Mayor, instead of the Mayor chasing publicity and photo opportunities.

Reason #6 - Urban Planning

We will not have to rename a street to honor his name, as Pitt Street already exists.

Reason #7 - City Council Relations

Stacy Head will be nice to the new Mayor.

Reason #8 - Economics

Instead of executive travel expenses depleting our budget, the city’s coffers will be filled through generous personal appearance fees earned by Mr. Pitt as our elected leader and ambassador.

Reason #9 - Convention Business

New Orleans will become the magnet for conventions of professional women’s organizations worldwide. The warm glow of pink Cadillacs will illuminate our Southern nights. This mass of sensually charged femininity will attract male visitors eager to contribute their economic stimulus.

Reason #10 - Jazz Fest

Instead of being greeted by the ubiquitous presence of Shell (God bless them!), visitors to Jazz Fest will be welcomed at the main entrance by our Mayor enthroned on the King of Rex Float, officiated by his Secretary of Music, Quint Davis.

Reason #11 - Rebuilding

Rather than relying on Aussie eloquence and narrative creativity or malfunctioning federal and state agencies, Mr. Pitt, as our chief executive will, instead, lead us, the local Pittwomen and Pittmen, in the fight against blight, crime, poverty and lack of humor. Dressed in period costumes and assisted by experienced producers, set builders, make-up artists, and camera operators, this cast of thousands will launch our Renaissance epic in weekly reality sequels.

Reason #12 - Transparency

Instead of having to sue for the release of public records, or to attempt to restore accidentally deleted emails, we can learn everything about our first executive from the pages of the National Enquirer and People Magazine.

Reason #13 - Integrity

Rather than governing our city to achieve fortune, fame and a book deal, our candidate already has achieved fortune, fame and MOVIE deals.

<![CDATA[Hi How Are You - Polycotton Tee with Hot Pink Ink]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/hi-how-are-you-polycotton-tee-with-hot-pink-ink.html

"Jeremiah the Innocent" makes his way onto the heather black t-shirts of Austinites Chad Wright, Katie Ziemann and Bre Williams. This 50% cotton, 50% polyester American Apparel tee features the original art of legendary musician Daniel Johnston. This tee is screen printed by hand in the Storyville Print Shop in hot pink ink.

Daniel Johnston's twenty foot tall "Jeremiah the Innocent" mural can be seen on the side of the sushi restaurant at 20th & Guadalupe Streets in Austin, Texas. Daniel painted in 1993, on the side of what was then the Sound Exchange record shop. Daniel was a regular customer at the hip (and now defunct) record shop. Daniel dubbed the creature "Jeremiah the Innocent" as a nod to the Three Dog Night song "Joy to the World."

So what's the big deal about this "Hi How Are You" alien frog? Well, part of the story is the Jeremiah's creator -- Daniel Johnston. If you haven't already seen the documentary "The Devil & Daniel Johnston", make sure to add the award winning movie to your Netflix queue. Daniel Johnston is a marvelously intriguing character.

But the other part of Jeremiah's story involves the mural's near-death experience. In 2005, Baja Fresh took over the building that serves as a canvas to the mural, and they planned to paint over Jeremiah. Due to public outcry, the City of Austin responded by designating the mural a public work of art and therefore untouchable. Baja Fresh went out of business in 2007.

This t-shirt is available in the unisex cut as well as the female-specific cut (go here for sizing charts).

<![CDATA[Beign-Yay Lavender Infant Tee]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/beign-yay-lavender-infant-tee.html

"Beign-Yay" is a Storyville Original, featuring artwork by LSU alumna Elizabeth Harvey. The "Beign-Yay" concept was the product of Texas State student Sara Ruffin and William & Mary student Bailey Thomson.

<![CDATA[Louisiana State Seal Heather Forest Tee]]> http://www.wearyourstory.com/louisiana-state-seal-heather-forest-tee.html

In 1902, this iconic image of a Brown Pelican feeding her young, known as the "pelican in her piety," became the official state seal of Louisiana. A similar depiction of the pelican has adorned the state flag of Louisiana since 1912.

In 2010, the state adopted a new version of the original pelican design for both the state seal and the state flag. To honor the original version, the vintage state seal if you will, we decided to slap it on a tee shirt. If you are a Louisianan (or a former Louisianan, or just one at heart), sport the state seal with pride!

"Louisiana State Seal Heather Forest" is printed on a forest green, 50% cotton, 50% polyester American Apparel tee with yellow ink, and is modeled by Sean Edwards of Baton Rouge.
